On my 02 Mack i am having intermitent clutch release issues. Sometimes my clutch pedal wont release the clutch. Its like the inner throw out bearing is not getting forked, but then after i take off down the road and pump it a few times works fine again. The cable and swing arm seem to be working. Any one ever pull the trani plate off and work on this issue?

we've had the same problem on a couple of trucks.  Hate to say it, but the only consistent fix we found was a new clutch.....I've got a couple of old ones kicking around that look perfect but intermittently don't release....no clue why

Thanks Greenguy,

I talked to Mack and they said its a broken spring on the clutch. i'll have to replace the clutch.

Ya i had to replace mine last year it was doing the same thing. I had 2 springs gone on my clutch, Not cheap when they have to replace the output shaft and cross shaft.

If anyone has this trouble starting get it fixed before it breaks and lets you down. Mine started working fine again and a week later i was very lucky, it broke at my shop yesterday after three pump jobs and a 200 mile trip. Good thing i know the best mechanic ever a guy that towed it and put the clutch in, all in one day. wow!
