Schwing Pressure Spring replacement

Whats the best technique of replacing my cutting rings pressure spring. I replaced my ring by easing back the rear plate enough to remove and replace the ring, I had a big job in the morning so i didn't want to experiment with the pressure spring but it needs to be done. Should i just again pull the plate back, remove the ring and then reach into the rock valve and pry the old rubber spring out? Then, should i lightly glue the rubber in then replace the ring? there's not enough room to do it from the ring side. Thanks

Pull the rock valve out to do it right.Change o rings and check bearings.

you should have the long bolts for the back plate, that screw into the top bolt hole for the back plate. they allow the back plate to come out far enough, so you can get to the pressure spring. if you dont have these long bolts, get them, they will savee you a lot of headaches and back pain

Thanks for the input. My bushings and seals are good i just need the spring and probably the kidney seal. I know the right way is to do the whole hopper but don't want to right now, the pump is working perfect. Plus its freeze up time six days a week pumping. I like the idea about long bolts. If i pull the rock i'd have to pull the hopper too (pain in the butt..) I may pull the back plate and big rear nut, then replace the kidney seal and chip out the front. Does that rear big nut just unspin or is it locked somehow?

it should be just a snug fit and it will unscrew. if you have a small chipping gun you can chip it out without having to remove the rock valve, just slide it all the way back on the long bolts. its alittle harder to clean this way but saves alot of time. just make sure you get all the grout cleaned out of the rockvalve or the spring wont fit right.
